Eric presents abstract at PAS

Eric McClellan attended the Pediatric Academic Societies meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he presented his abstract “Intralipid infusion in late-gestation fetal sheep does not alter myocardial composition.” While the results were not as impactful as anticipated, they still provide valuable insights into the complex relationship between lipid exposure and fetal heart development. These findings contribute to refining our understanding of how such exposures may or may not affect myocardial function. Even when no immediate changes are observed, it helps us rule out certain pathways, guiding the direction of future research in the field.

Eric’s presentation attracted interest from individuals focused on optimizing neonatal parenteral nutrition. It’s always rewarding to see our research resonate with others working in related fields, as it opens the door for valuable conversations and potential collaborations. His poster sparked discussion on how lipid infusions, even when no immediate effects are seen in myocardial composition, could still influence other aspects of neonatal health.

Attending the meeting also provided Eric with the chance to network with other experts, gaining fresh perspectives on the broader challenges in neonatal care and heart development. Connecting with colleagues who share similar interests helps further inform the direction of our ongoing work in the lab.
