Kaliyah Iverson, who spent two years as an ASC intern in the Jonker Lab from 2022 to 2024, has graduated from the OHSU Wy’east Postbaccalaureate program. This incredible program is dedicated to supporting American Indian and Alaska Native individuals on their journey to become physicians. As part of her graduation, Kaliyah was honored with a special blanketing ceremony (pictured here), a meaningful tradition that celebrates her hard work and dedication. We’re so proud of all she’s accomplished, and excited to see what’s next for her. Congratulations, Kaliyah!
Winston Weigand, who worked as a Research Assistant 2 in the Jonker Lab from 2019 to 2020, has also reached an exciting milestone—he graduated this spring from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After years of dedication and hard work, Winston is moving into private practice, where he’ll continue to make an impact in the veterinary field. We wish him all the best as he starts this new chapter. Congratulations, Winston!
Lastly, I’m humbled and honored to share that I’ve been promoted to Professor of Medicine. It’s a huge milestone, and I’m incredibly grateful for the support from my colleagues, students, and everyone in the Jonker Lab. This recognition is a testament to the incredible work we’re all doing together. I’m excited for what the future holds!
